The project assesses three pilots for colourant production and application in plastic and paper packaging, by defining barriers, business cases and action plans. This would enable new environmentally friendly products and products with totally new functionalities. The focus is mainly on biobased fibres, either natural or man-made in origin. All process steps will be demonstrated on pilot scale. This project is expected to show both ecologic and economic benefits for the entire value chain. These fractions can serve as a feedstock for many fuels and chemicals and will be evaluated by interested third parties.
