In line with global sustainability goals and the urgent need for climate action, this project focuses on quantifying Maastricht University’s carbon footprint by assessing both direct (Scope 1) and energy-related indirect (Scope 2) greenhouse gas emissions, including CO₂, CH₄, N₂O, and HFCs. Through comprehensive data collection, standardized carbon accounting methods, and detailed analysis of energy consumption and operational activities, the project aims to identify high-impact emission sources and provide evidence-based insights to guide reduction strategies. The findings will support the university’s commitment to carbon neutrality, align with the European Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and help shape future policies for a more sustainable campus.
